It has taken me a long time to get around to reading this series and watching the first episode of Shadow Hunters sort of prompted me to read the first book. I was interested to see if it had any resemblance to the series and despite the less than complimentary reviews it was not that bad. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. Wow. I'd heard good things about this trilogy so I waited until all three were released. I'm glad I did. If I'd rushed out

This was very easy to listen to as an audio thanks to my library, who thankfully has the whole series. It's a great story, a meticulous world that Clare has built, great characters with depth and layers and secrets. The trouble was, I've watched the t.v. series so I'd lost any sense of suspense. It's also well written with none of the distractions I find with a lot of modern writers with dodgy grammar and invented words.

But I am glad to say I did venture to read it. After seeing another view reference "Harry Potter Similarities" and although it could be construed as an replica of Harry Potter I certainly did not see them as they are not blaringly obvious (and I am fairly well read of the HP books). This books stands on its own in a wor
